Our History
Bunya Secondary School was founded by the community as a private school in 1980. In July 1981, it became a government-aided, mixed day secondary school offering Ordinary Level education. The school was established under the patronage of the late Hon. Sam Tewungwa, who was serving as Minister of Internal Affairs at the time. Bunya Secondary School initially operated from the premises of Kyebando Primary School, using one classroom block made up of four classrooms. From the beginning, the school had qualified and licensed teachers. Mr. Magumba Budandwe later donated approximately 100 acres of land to the school. Through the support of Hon. Sam Tewungwa, the school received government grants that were used to construct its first three buildings at the present site: The S.2 classroom block The main building The administration block In May 1985, the school began transferring students to the new site. Senior Three and Senior Four students moved first, while Senior One and Senior Two students temporarily remained at the old site.
